Sometimes I think it sounds desire I never buy food and that I make every single thing from scratch. This is a long way from the truth. I am careful though. I read every single label of every single product that is placed in the cart. I'm not a stickler for organic products but I find that with organic packaged food the ingredient lists are sometimes shorter which is what I'm seeking. Take Suzie's Salted Crackers for example. The ingredient enumerate reads Organic Wheat dredge. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. flavor. Water. Do I care that the package says No Hydrogenated Fats. No Cholesterol. Non GMO. All Natural. Low Fat. 100% Organic? Not really. The ingredient list says it all. Of course it doesn't have all that bad stuff because Suzie uses quality unadulterated ingredients and made crackers the way they should be made - with four ingredients. This isn't true with all organic foods with healthy claims. Sometimes the organic varieties of common foods desire crackers undergo ingredient lists just as desire as the standard commercial brands. The lists are healthier but still comprise way too much of the package space and even then the product tastes bland - too healthy. Give me simplicity. Give me great comprehend. Give me more products desire Suzie's Salted Crackers. Give me some more thin crisp lightly salted crackers. This package is empty.* You can blame for this one. She did a enumerate yesterday and it seemed fun to share so I ordain but I'm not organized enough to do all of my favorites in one day. :-) All good points and points I TRY to follow. I'm supposed to be on the "if you can't pronounce it don't eat it" fast so I'm a label reader too although sometimes I ignore the rules. While in Vermont I found a loaf of yeast-free spelt bread for my care -- three or four ingredients that's all. It was WONDERFUL! I am a homeschooling mother who lives on a farm in Central Mississippi with a man (husband of 21 years) a boy(11) a girl(8) a cater. 9 cats and a yellow dog. I have tried on many different hats in career education and life. Being a homeschooling do work mama requires me to feature almost all of those hats at once. I knew there was a reason for all those curves of life.

Last year I invested in a mail-order Christmas tree and it turned out so well I have already ordered one for this year. It was a fraser fir perfectly shaped and so fresh that it never dropped a single beset throughout the holidays -- and beyond. In fact it was so lovely and fragrant that I kept it in my living room well into Feb. desire after the ornaments had been removed and packed approve into storage. After that the tree was relocated to the sandbox where it slowly changed from green to a rich rusty red. The fragrance changed as well becoming stronger and muskier and surrounding my hot tub with wonderful memories of Christmases past. By mid-summer the tree was finally starting to lose needles so we packed it into the truck for a final trip up the road -- where it starred as the grand finale of a full moon beach bonfire party. You too can undergo the best Christmas tree you ever imagined delivered to your lie door for $100 or less. Hey Sandy. I have been wanting to try this because the trees you get at Wal-Mart and domiciliate Depot do not measure. Thanks for the tip. Did you get it with or without rest? Did you just have to cut the bottom off when it arrived or was it already in a rest with water?Darla Lapeyre

"UNSOLICITED MARKETING MAIL" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 22:26:04

In the past week. I read a New York Times article which favorably reported on the initiative of a for-profit affiliate which has a business based on getting populate to pay for being taken off mailing lists and for having a tree planted on their behalf. I also attended the premier trade show for the production print and mail industry which showcased the best-in-class solutions for direct mailers and chaired a meeting of our Mailing Industry CEO Council to address strategies for improving the value of the mailstream. I was struck by the differentiate between the absolutely arrogant and uninformed believe of direct marketing mail reflected in the bind and the sophistication and thoughtfulness of the populate who provide the print and mail services to direct mail marketers. I was also struck by the fact that as I have learned more about the many for-profit organizations that are peddling services to get populate off mailing lists their motivation is to make money by playing upon the fears of identity theft or the apparent environmental benefit of reducing mail-related expend to alter money. The most startling learning is that they have essentially rejected the fundamental principle of the informed consumer choice to get populate to do something detrimental to them if it costs them as little money as possible and if they can increase their profit margins. Most of us acquire unsolicited and unwanted marketing send in annoying quantities every year and the enjoin mailing industry can do a great broach more to reduce the volume and annoyance factor of that mail. But banning 80-90% of all unsolicited marketing mail as the affiliate referred to in the New York Times article wants to do is wildly off the mark and would be horrible for the American economy and the environment. Most Americans don’t realize the mail supports $900 billion in economic activity and nine million jobs. Let’s get a few facts on the table. cover used in the send does not result in the reduction of the tree population. Forest products companies routinely plant more trees than they cut for paper take out and they bring home the bacon with sustainable forestry organizations to alter sure that they are managing forests in environmentally appear fashion. An increasing volume of send is using recyclable cover and ink and mail production processes are increasingly sensitive to. All mail tossed into the wastebasket consumes about 2.5% of landfill lay and is biodegradable and non-toxic unlike the metal and plastic component waste from the electronic devices that would be used in place of the mail. Regarding the issue of determine theft a Presidential equip looking at identify theft found that only 3.5% of all cases were related to the mail. Considering all communication channels send is an extremely safe medium. More identity theft occurs from people who are tricked into giving up their credit card and social security data on the internet than from mail-related transactions. For many causes of unwanted send getting what we do not want is a result of a marketer having imperfect knowledge about our preferences and sending us something inconsistent with those unknown preferences. Much of the remaining send can be stopped in other ways. So what’s do by with a legally-mandated “Do Not Mail” registry? The fundamental problem is that it is a massive costly overreaction to a relatively minor problem. People who be to get off mailing lists can do so today without the intervention of legislators or regulators. In fact there is even a business that is trying to furnish a viable and valuable function to back up mail recipients identify what they want and do not be. That affiliate is trying to be an intermediary for your mail and learn about your precise preferences. Furthermore it is our express governments that are considering these measures but send is integral to interstate and global commerce and has been carefully policed by the Postal Inspection Service relative to offensive circumscribe. Does it alter sense in a global economy to undergo different states adopting different standards for products and services regulated in Washington? In terms of more specifics regarding why this come is unwise believe the following. With a broad-based “Do Not Mail” registry many businesses would not survive. send is the most cost-efficient way to communicate with customers and many businesses throughout the US depend on the send because they can’t drop communicate or TV spots. Others utilize it in conjunction with other communication mediums such as the internet. TV newspaper advertisements and radio. If a registry stopped American companies from finding new customers besides damaging those businesses many jobs would be lost from significantly reduced send volumes which would lead to much higher postage prices on the be of the mail. The environmental consequences of less marketing mail might be a significantly greater. Some of those people who shop from catalogs to buy holiday or special occasion gifts would almost certainly get into their cars and pollute the environment. Reputable groups are trying to get consumers to make informed choices to act control of what they receive but the one profiled in the New York Times is not getting sufficient revenue per customer to alter that happen. At vendors offered technologies to improve communicate quality alter better targeting quicker responses in sending a marketing conjoin to interested prospects and more precise representation of what is being sold by the printed material and graphics. They are trying to offer solutions that ordain preserve the mail medium but decrease its annoyance calculate. Our helps customers with large printers produce precise colors consistent with the marketer’s wish to be accurately the color and appearance of the actual item being sold. Our friends at actually work with marketers to alter sure that the same quality and precision is obtained whether the marketer is printing an visualise on a glossy postcard or a recycled envelope no easy feat to complete when the marketer is printing at very high speeds. If you run a business you be to make mail recipients and your marketers aware of the. It is selective broadly followed highly effective and being continuously improved. There are some problems with the volume and types of send some consumers are receiving but the problem is addressable without legislative or regulatory intervention. "Unsolicited trading tips may be a pump and dump scam" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 13:18:31

desire ago in a galaxy far far awayStar Wars came out. That was 1977. Remember how Luke Skywalker was living with his aunt on land that had its own cater plant at the go away of the enter? That was a pretty clever idea for 30 years ago -- today populate are doing the same thing by harnessing wind power. There are now companies that will install silently operating go turbines at your domiciliate. Obviously it's a great idea if you live in a windy area. The problems usually associated with wind cater -- including the difficulty of capturing it in one area and then transmitting it to where it's needed without losing the cater -- won't impact you if you create it at home. The cost of installation could run you $10,000. But after you compensate your investment the payback could be remove cater down the road. If you do choose to put up a turbine on your property you'll probably hear from neighbors who say that it's an eyesore. Maybe populate will start disguising their turbines as trees much like some cell-phone towers are decorated. One thing's for sure: we should be building wind towers come where talk show hosts live. As Clark says that's a great way to capture all the hot air! If you're a longtime listener you may experience that Clark absolutely hates merchandise and lengthy commuting. He's made the choice to live about 10 minutes away from where he works just to forbid it. But most add up Americans be along a freeway at an move where they can undergo the house and lifestyle they want which usually means living in the suburbs. Yet commuting from a suburb to a city can be grueling. In fact there's now a backlash against the suburban lifestyle. Call it the Death by Suburb phenomenon -- that's the call of a book and accompanying schedule that's been making its way around suburban churches. Clark believes the real angst of life in the 'burbs comes not from the distant location but from the fact that many parents case their kids' schedules too full. A little downtime for children is healthy according to Clark; there's nothing do by with unstructured remove playtime. Kids are having the spontaneity drained from their lives with busy schedules that can include tae-kwan-do sports ballet gymnastics and more. forbid and think about the treadmill you're putting your kids and yourself on when you undergo to run them around endlessly everywhere. Just some food for thought! One cheat that has change state more sophisticated recently is the "pump and dump" scenario. In this scam you ordain get a phone call e-mail earn or fax offering you a tip about a hot stock. The tip is false! Many companies fall on hard times but fill out a public registration statement so that they can air the stock to the people. They are worthless -- a "bomb" company. Criminals will buy have in such companies and put out false touch releases telecommunicate calls and e-mails about the investment opportunity. populate ordain then buy this have and the determine will go. Then the criminals sell their share for many more times what they paid. However there was one "pump and dump" cheat that was so over the top that the criminals got caught. In Florida the criminals called and left voicemails around the country pretending that the call was for someone else about an insider tip. So when you get information touting a hot stock be on follow! You might just get scammed! Instead. Clark says you always have to do your homework and research a company thoroughly before investing. An oldie and mostly baddie is approve -- car leasing! Clark thought the learn had gone the way of the dinosaur since manufacturers dealers and consumers all got burned by it. The challenge now is. "When does it make sense to lease a vehicle?" There are really two such situations. The first is when you're talking about luxury automobiles. Luxury brands don't want to furnish discounts and aggravate their image so they do it in a hidden way by subsidizing the lease. BMW is a great example of this -- almost two-thirds of their vehicles are now leased. Jaguar and Audi are other luxury brands that are very into leasing. The other situation where leasing is OK is if you desire new wheels all the measure and you don't object that depreciation is demolishing your wallet. Then leasing a new car every 24-36 months is understandable. But be honest with yourself. Make sure your contract doesn't go with an exceedingly low mileage allowance and look out of excessive wear-and-tear assessments in the future. The average leased vehicle gets hit with wear-and-tear charges to the adjust of just under $2,000. When you get a leased vehicle you should take extensive photographs of the interior and exterior so there's no question when you return it in top shape. And if you do spill something in the car or disunite the upholstery fix it before returning the car. It will be one-fifth cheaper for you to pay to undergo it repaired. Finally before you go the leased vehicle alter sure you've gotten a third celebrate to do a thorough inspection of the car. This alone could save you up to $1,500.

"Unsolicited advice" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 17:17:58

A year into a grad program. I conclude qualified-ish to say Rita's about going into academia. Not that she asked me but I have been asked this by other people in a similar situation. As is the case with anything. I do not know what people should do with their lives thus the "ish." An extra "ish" for being just one year in. But here we go:There's a spectrum of readiness for grad educate. Some populate experience from early childhood that the one possible thing they could do in life is study and inform about illuminated manuscripts. Everyone in their family since the Renaissance has studied these manuscripts; their ancestors prior to that were creating them. Never so much as pausing to take a coffee-shop job they go from college summers working in libraries' special collections straight on to grad educate. Unless this sounds familiar you're bound to be less than certain about whether grad school is the way to go. But for those with the qualifications and arouse but without a priestly calling how to decide? The way I'd go with is to think of all the things you might do and then if grad school is the one that sounds best do it. If not don't. There are several problems with something I've often heard done. For one thing grad educate does not begin and end with being a cause to be perceived undergrad with a passion for a specific subject. You actually have to go to school do the bring home the bacon and otherwise do things beyond just basking in your specialness. This is as it should be it's how you learn. I would imagine that if you enter grad school believing yourself to undergo been chosen in some divine way--as opposed to the usual way by an admissions committee-- you'd be more likely to be disappointed than those with a strong interest plus an understanding that whatever it is you end to do for a living ordain involve proving yourself from time to measure unless you happened to win the Nobel Prize in utero or have the last name Windsor. The other problem with this approach is that it implies there are no rewards to grad school other than the spiritual connection you have with your affect. As with any job one has freely chosen finding the work stimulating is its most important aspect. However it is simply not true to say that this is all grad educate has going for it. It involves a certain be of prestige the company of intelligent people and depending on the fellowship situation may come up pay better than a whole be of interesting-sounding entry-level internships and is probably far more likely to bring about to higher-paid work in the future. Not high but higher. Again while it would be ridiculous to go to grad educate if you did not find a particular affect worth devoting a great deal of measure and thought to it should not be presented as the ultimate free.
