"ALERT :: Email Scam Targets Artists and Artwork" posted by ~Ray

Artists beware: Email scammers are slick! This is not something we didn't already know alter? However. I want to warn you to an email I received this morning in several of my art email accounts. This type of thing is quite common on the Internet but I be to alert those of you who might be unfamiliar so you don't get involved with this. The title of the email reads "ARTWORK WANTED". The message goes on to say: Hello Seller,Good Day.. My label is Ade jo. I saw your artwork in the list address and am very much interested in buying your (artwork) I will desire to know the actual amount of the art and i ordain like to pay with a cashier draw/money order. And about the shipping I experience a good shipping affiliate that I am using that can come for the picking up ,kindly get approve now with the determine and if you undergo the picture send it to my send box to see. Are you a private seller?Do you accept chasier draw/money request as my method of payment? I ordain be you to email me back with your website and last offering price. beat Regards This email has all the hallmarks of a cheat. The email expresses interest in your artwork and requests jpg's of the bring home the bacon and your price for selling. The sender says he prefers to pay with a cashier draw or money order.. sounds pretty good doesn't it? He also says that he knows a good shipping company. Ok.. here is how this works. The guy (or gal) sends you money via an international analyse but he/she overpays you. When you notify him that he has overpaid he'll request that you displace the overage fees to the shipper to cover costs. This of course you'll accept to do but not before you find out the international check they have sent you is bad. Now you've paid money from YOUR ACCOUNT to the shipper. TA DA.. you've lost money allowed a scammer to know your banking information and you might have lost the painting or piece of art as well. with a good deal of informative comments from his readers reqarding this write of fraud. Some of Edward's readers have also listed websites where you can report this activity to authorities. . There is also a website called which I also highly recommend reading. This website offers several tips and resources for protecting your interests. I know several artists who undergo had great success in selling art bring home the bacon via the Internet so gratify don't let this disapprove you.. just know who you are dealing with and do some research on your part. Thanks for the heads up. I have been spotting these goons for a desire time on the internet in other non-art areas. It would be wonderful to cater them in person!. My first tip off to these types of scams is usually the very poor english and out of context verbal content easy to choose up because the way they write ( or speak ) sounds strange to an American pair of ears. "I was just handed the most incredible magazine article that I think has ever been written about me. It is just fantastic and populate are presenting me with copies of the magazine. "I open Lisa Mikulski to be just the right resource at the alter time: focused professional with a great eye for color and create by mental act and with very abstain turnaround measure for getting images up on the web -- an artist's beat friend and there when you need her! She's got a really good command of the two worlds we as artists now inhabit: the technical issues of cyberspace in today's merchandise combined with furnish lie issues of artistic judgement. I highly recommend her as a great resource for web create by mental act artistic and gallery management."

I will displace an telecommunicate from rabulah@gmail com to rabulah@gmail com. It's just things like "pick up the milk". "get the cat in" etc. Thunderbird picks them up then Gmail archives them. But Thunderbird always thinks these messages are Junk and flags them as such. How can I forbid it from doing this?2] Every measure I get an telecommunicate from someone not in my communicate schedule (apparently). Thunderbird blocks the pictures. To get the pictures to show. I have to save the telecommunicate address to my address schedule. How do I move this functionality off so images are displayed by fail?3] Sometimes when I get an telecommunicate from my ascribe card affiliate telling me that a payment has been sent to my account. Thunderbird decides that this communicate is an email cheat. It sometimes thinks that my ebay "favourite searches" are scams too. They're not. They never are and I've been on the internet long enough to be able to tell the difference between a cheat and a legitimate telecommunicate. How do I alter the "telecommunicate cheat" warning?I'm on Windows if that makes any difference. 1. Did you add yourself to your own address book? I evaluate it works as a whitelist for junk. say: You have to move on this functionality in be Settings under Junk Settings.2. Can be changed using Config Editor. Let me know if you have trouble. Just so you experience allowing remote images allows spammers to experience that an address is real due to 3. move off scam detection: Tools > Options > Privacy > telecommunicate Scams.
