I am a member of WomenontheWeb it's a Dutch communicate of about 4,500 women who either use the internet for their business bring home the bacon or pleasure. I am a happy and active member and I had the idea to start a enumerate concentrating on blogs as discussions on blogging were move around 3 different telecommunicate lists. The Wow board of management has approved the start of this enumerate. (yeah!) And they have decided that the enumerate will also entail the topics of web2.0 apps and online networking (yeah yeah again). I had proposed the name of the list to be weblog-list. As the enumerate is going to talk about more than blogs they have proposed the name: web communications (in Dutch: webcommunicatie). Now I had also stated to the board that I would love to take care of promotions of this enumerate. Therefore a good name would make my work much easier. :-) So I am very curious to know what you think of this name. It needs to describe what it is so people can share that they are a member of the blog-list like there is an multimedia-list computer-list text-list mac-list etc. My initial thought of the label is that communications souds corporate and not very web2.0 whereas the list is going to be very 2.0. :-)gratify let me experience what you think of the name. If you undergo any other suggestions please share them here as well. And: if you construe/write Dutch and you are a woman don't delay to connect in. :-) http://www womenontheweb nl
Hi Marieke. So the new mailinglist is about online networking and blogging; both kind of 'results' of web 2.0. Why not call it web 2.0 then? And if that is a terrible mailingname (maybe because of the numbers?) alter it : @webtwopointzero or in Dutch webtweepuntnul. I accept with you that webcommunication sounds very corporate and at the same measure it doesn't say a thing because everything is communication on the web. Anja Beerepoot
Hi Marieke,A great thing about Women on the Web (WoW) is that as a member you can suggest a new maillist. They have a good system for that and the board gives its members a lot of opportunities. If the board thinks it's a nice plan and suits WoW they alter sure it gets there. You can really make something of it change surface if you are 'just' a single member desire you are. Coming to your challenge... I think you shouldn't drop that this list is part of the WoW-community. Thát's the mark the webcom-list is a product. It's not just about communicating membership of the webcom-list it's about WoW-membership. When you are checking out the possibilities of a WoW-membership you'll find all the info here: http://www womenontheweb nl/lijsten. For existing members that's clear enough they'll acquire a newsletter about the new webcom-list and find everything they be. (As a matter of fact they are signing in for the webcom-list already.) For new members it's more important to learn to experience what Women on the Web is about. They'll have to end on that first. (And as you can imagine it's the board that decides on how to communicate that.)approve to the list-name. When you say you think 'com' (communications) is too much business-like you'll have to take another glance at what WoW is doing... There is a large focus on business there it's no Hyves or myspace there are no fancy smileys/pictures/music/wallpapers etc. It's comforatable you can undergo fun there but WoW is not trying to grab hold of all bloggers a major part ís about business. So.. I don't really see anything wrong about that. Let's just see what ordain become of this WoW-maillist!Dianap s. A friend pointed out that web2.0@ is a disastrous e-mailaddress for a maillist. "webcom" is easy to bequeath and hard to misspell. Good p o v. !
