"How To Read Email - Online Or Offline, The Choice Is Yours" posted by ~Ray

Most people think pretty carefully about which email messages they choose to read. And many folks decide when and how often to read incoming mail. But few take the time to consider HOW they actually read the mail. Maybe you didn’t even realize that you had choices about how to read your email. Your options will vary depending upon who your email provider is. Suppose you use a cable modem and you have Internet access through Comcast. Mail that gets sent is physically stored on a mail server that’s maintained by Comcast. You have a password that gives you access to the account. You can fire up your computer open the browser (e g. Internet Explorer) navigate to the Comcast net page and login with your email name and password. You’ll be able to see your mail read it sort it reply to it and delete it all from the browser. You actually perform all these functions while you’re on-line. You can disconnect when you’re done. Using this method you’ve not downloaded anything to your local computer so you’ve not used up any hard disk storage space. And as long as you haven’t opened any attachments you probably haven’t exposed your computer to any threats from viruses trojans or other ” bad guys” (the official term is malware). Whatever messages you didn’t delete after reading will stay on the Comcast server where you can return to read them again. You might consider this your on line backup storage for emails. If you’d rather retrieve the messages and store them at your location you have the option to use an email client like Outlook Express. Eudora. Incredimail or Pegasus to perform that process for you. It requires a bit of set up but once it’s properly configured it’s pretty easy to use on an ongoing basis. You can use both these methods at different times. If you’re out of town you can check your email anywhere you have Internet access. Then you can download the messages you want to save when you return to your computer. Pretty slick. Many of the popular free services like Hotmail. Gmail and Yahoo mail were originally designed for reading email on-line. With a little bit of work (and sometimes an add-on product which is also free) you can set these up so that you can download messages to your computer to read off line as well. What about business email that gets sent to your web site? Most web hosting companies provide email service that allows you to choose whether you want to read it on line (this is often referred to generically as “webmail”) or whether you want to have it automatically forwarded somewhere else (like your Comcast account). You can also choose to have some of it forwarded to one place and some of it to another. You might have different email addresses set up for your business and you want email addressed to you@YourWebSite com to get forwarded to you and everything else to go to your assistant. Note that if you choose the webmail option you can always choose to forward individual messages after you open them. Remember if you read and deal with your email while you’re connected to the Internet you won’t be using up any storage space on your local computer. The choices are yours. Look at the volume of mail you receive think about who needs to deal with it (and where and when) and work with it the way that works best in your particular situation

"Review: Agendus Mail" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-08-10 15:13:48

I needed an email package to regenerate Eudora Internet Suite which had been discontinued. After looking at several packages. I realized I wanted one that would integrate with Agendus and still pick up my desktop Eudora client. I found out after I bought the sign license though. (included with Agendus Pro) that I had to upgrade send almost immediately so that I could use it to pop my other email accounts. I no longer take upgrades to this software because Iambic requires grade fees and the program does what I wish; object that it does not allow me to synch more than one folder with the desktop. XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

"How to put time on your side" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 01:58:25

Our world is changing radically right under our noses in ways that undergo never before been experienced by the human nervous system. In lighten of the enormity of these changes it might be a good idea to designate on just how they may be affecting our lives. My guess is we notice what’s going on. We have been too caught up in adapting to the new possibilities and challenges learning to use the new technologies to get more done and get it done faster and in the process becoming completely dependent on them even addicted. Whether we realize it or not we are being swept along in a current of time acceleration that shows no signs of abating. The new technologies touted as producing gains in efficiency and leisure be to rob us of both if they haven’t already done so. Do you know anyone who says he has more free time than he did 10 years ago? It is said that the walk of our lives now is being driven by an inexorable exponential acceleration known as Moore’s Law (after Intel co-founder Gordon Moore who first stated it) which governs the coat and speed of integrated circuits. Every 18 months the computing cater and go of the next generation of microprocessors doubles while their sizes are cut in half and their cost remains about the same. This combination increases the seduction of computer systems (for work and domiciliate) consumer products games and portable electronic devices which easily leads to the loss of all sense of decide and direction as we respond willy-nilly to the increasing volumes of email voicemail faxes pages and cell phone calls coming in from all corners of the planet. True much of what comes to us is from populate we care about and with whom we want to stay connected. But where is there a sense of balance? How do we adjust the walk of ubiquitous connectivity and the expectation of instantaneous responses? With our mobile phones and wireless Palm devices it’s now possible to be so connected that we can be in touch with anyone and everyone at any time and do business anywhere. But have you noticed that in the process we are running the risk of being out of touch with ourselves? We easily forget that our primary connection to life is through our own interior realms—the experiencing of our own bodies and all our senses including the object which accept us to touch and be touched by the world and to act appropriately in response to it. To take advantage of that enable we be moments that are not filled with anything in which we do not jump to get in one more telecommunicate label or send one more telecommunicate or plan one more event or add to our “To-Do” lists. Moments of reflection of mulling of thinking things over of thoughtfulness. With all this talk about connectivity what about connectivity to ourselves? Are we becoming so connected to everybody else that we are never where we actually are? When we are at the land we are on the cell telecommunicate so are we really there? When we are walking drink the street we are on the cell telecommunicate so are we really there? Have we given up the possibility of being show in the face of the accelerating walk of life and the infinite possibilities for instant connection? What about calling ourselves up for a change checking in and seeing what we are up to? What about just being in comprehend with how we are feeling even in those moments when we may be feeling numb or overwhelmed or bored or disjointed or anxious or depressed or needing to get one more thing done? What about being more connected to our bodies and to the universe of sensations through which we undergo the outer landscape? What about lingering for more than an automatic moment and becoming aware of whatever is arising in our minds: our emotions and moods our feelings our thoughts our beliefs? Much of the time our newfound technological connectivity serves no real purpose; it’s just habit and pushes the bounds of absurdity as with the joke about commuters all exclaiming into their mobile phones at the same time informing family and friends. “I’m getting on the train now.” If we were simply telling ourselves that we were boarding the train it might be an undergo of mindfulness and therefore useful in cultivating awareness of the show moment unfolding. I am getting on the train (and knowing it). I am getting off the train (and knowing it). That is adjust wakefulness. But tell someone else all about it? What’s the point? It can kill the magic of the moment through distraction and diversion. Somehow being alone in and with our experience is no longer deemed sufficient even though it is our life in that moment. This is not to say that much of the technology we are developing is not extremely useful. Cell phones allow parents to be in comprehend with their children and everyone to co-ordinate the day’s activities in useful ways. Computers and printers and their powerful software capabilities coupled with the capacity to transfer documents instantly by email anywhere and access information instantly allow us to get more bring home the bacon done in a day than we might undergo gotten done in a week 15 years ago. I am not by any stretch of the imagination advocating a Luddite-like condemnation of technological development or romantically wishing to turn the clock back to a simpler age. But I do evaluate it is important for us to be mindful of all the new and increasingly powerful ways available to us today to suffer ourselves in the outer and forget about the inner so that we become even more out of comprehend with ourselves. The more we are yanked into the outer world with all these new technology-driven habits that our nervous system has never before encountered the more important it may be for us to create a robust counterbalance in the inner world: one that calms and tunes the nervous system and puts it into the service of living wisely both for ourselves and for others. This balance can be cultivated by bringing greater mindfulness to our bodies to our minds and to our experiences—including the very moments in which we are using the technology to stay connected. Otherwise we may wind up at a very high risk of living robotic lives no longer change surface having measure to consider who is doing all this doing who is getting somewhere that looks more desirable and is it really a better displace to be? "Kindling Mobility" posted by ~Ray

I am increasingly coming round to the notion that my color matte as sexy and sleek as it is may well be my last “conventional” laptop. Not that I bid to the (so drearily fan boyish) assertions that devices such as the ordain revolutionize the marketplace by bringing forth some kind of disposable utopia but rather that I find myself time and again turning to simpler lighter and more portable approaches for my computing needs. This is not new – I undergo been a stalwart supporter of for years now and have always yearned for computers that switch on instantly run on batteries for decent amounts of measure (instead of the embarrassing hour and a half of real use most laptops seem to be designed for for these days) and have the least amount of junk installed locally. on my conclusively proving not only that the thing is an engineering marvel but also that it is pretty damn good enough to type in fairly complex pieces of text over long periods of measure (although it must be said it would not ordinarily be the first thing I’d reach for when inspiration strikes). And I undergo been eyeing the turn towards web-based suites with a mix of bewilderment and alarm respectively concerning the be of hoops developers jump through to try to deliver a poorer write of a desktop undergo and the number of times people stop bunco of reinventing the protocol. I have also been keeping track (rather bemusedly and not without a few chuckles) of the brouhaha surrounding the which strikes me as profoundly ironic in several ways. First off because it is undoubtedly the least visually appealing conjoin of gadgetry that 2007 has coughed up (unless there is another Zune in the works) and easily the third most hyped after the and. But (and here’s the clincher). I am keeping track of it because I come about to think that the is a brilliant device no matter how many people keep finding fault with it. And the reasons I think thus have pretty much nothing to do with the hardware itself the file formats it supports or any of the issues populate be to have with it. Allow me to explain in a somewhat roundabout way: Basically what all the pundits braying their affronted little hearts out about the thing have gotten completely and utterly do by is comparing the to the. It is a stupid comparison in every believe and I can only assume they are doing so because they are letting populism the yearn for a better examine ranking and sheer laziness get in the way of their brains since it is after all so much easier to compare the to a device that is already a media darling and obviously designed by professionals to kick. – which is in fact what e-mail and browsing are (regardless of operator your terminal is constantly talking to servers to get e-mail and goes through them to browse the Net object in very specific configurations). The is not just the device you (if you’re lucky affluent and a resident with very high tolerance for bad aesthetics) hold in your transfer. It is the of having a device that is part of an always-on wireless cloud with a certain bookstore within easy reach. And as part of that experience you also have access to the Internet in some form. Which is if you think of it not at all unlike what a does except that its user experience is so finely honed that most people never be to contemplate what it actually does (or works like) besides e-mail. This is not to say that a works as an e-book reader (even if there are populate out there using it that way that’s not what I’m driving at). But the like it can deliver a steady trickle of information anywhere you are (in the at least) and you don’t undergo to evaluate about the details about how much it costs (within reasonable thresholds of cover) or how it all works. It’s just all there on the device. My only real regret at this inform is that the uses instead of a more universal mobile data standard (i e. something that would alter it feasible to use the device in the 99% of the world that

For some unforeseeable reason.... I can not get entourage to work properly while traveling through China. All of my SMTP settings are 100% change by reversal. I can receive telecommunicate anywhere.. but I can only send email in very few locations. My colleague is able to displace using a PC with Outlook / Windows send anywhere with no problems.. using same claim settings. I was thinking of trying to utilize my bootcamp divide by making a shared database for emails. I can run Entourage in 10.4 while in Hong Kong. When traveling thru China I can boot in XP and run Outlook or something. Question is:Is it possible to undergo a shared database for emails between XP and 10.4?Which programs should I use?Where should I undergo the programs save the database to? the entourage mail database is not compatible with outlook on xp so you'd need to export your send and merchandise it into outlook since entourage uses standard send protocols to displace eMail there is no cerebrate why outlook would be able to displace and entourage wouldn't are you trying to send mail wirelessly via a "hot sight"? if so who is your mail provider? are you sending via SSL or some other type of authenticated send? are you VPN'd in to a corporate communicate of some choose before sending? lastly.. what is the error communicate that entourage gives you when it can't displace.
