Hello. I signed up to PowWeb today thanks in part to the very active community here who was prompt to answer my questions. I am transferring a domain and I just want to make absolutely sure that everything's all right. I tried looking around elsewhere in this forum for an answer to this question as well as in the knowledgebase to no avail. I'm a bit of a control freak
So here it goes. During the registrar transfer request process one of the points I am asked to check is this:
The Administrative Contact e-mail address is unknown. Please check the WHOIS record below. You must verify that you have access to receive emails at that address. If you have Domain WHOIS Privacy enabled it must be disabled during the transfer.
Why is the contact e-mail unknown? My valid email address is listed in the whois information below so.. are addresses automatically unknown? Basically. I'm just wondering whether I'll receive the necessary mail given that PowWeb sees it as unknown.
JGP is there a particular reason why you want to transfer the domain? You can keep your domain at it's current registrar and just change the name servers to reflect PowWeb's (ns1 powweb com and ns2 powweb com). When signing up with PowWeb you just give them the domain name you want to use and then as mentioned go to your existing registrar and change the DNS servers. But to your actual question do you by chance have any sort of privacy turned on at your existing registrar? If so you would have to remove/disable that in order to do the transfer symo

I'd like to transfer the domain because I only have a month left with my old provider and would like to benefit from PowWeb's domain credits instead of paying to leave it at my old provider. Privacy is disabled on my domain name. It's also unlocked and I see the entire whois information in the domain transfer page including my email address - I don't understand why I still get that message.
Some registrars prevent movement from them within 30 days of changing a whois record (in any way!) Is this the case here? (You can't post the registrars name it will be redacted).

There is no provision to refuse a transfer except:1) within 12-15 days of an expiry [it is unlikely to complete a transfer and may expire during a transfer during that short a period] and2) within 60 days of a renewal of a domain from an expired status. (I don't doubt that some Registrars set their own rules...)Otherwise;a) turn off domain privacy on the domainb) unlock the domain(disable the transfer lock)c) secure the AuthCode from the holding Registrard) ensure that the Administrative Contact email address on the domain is active and correctOnce you have these pieces in place -e) repoint the nameservers to powweb (ns1 powweb com and ns2 powweb com)wait the typical 24-72 hour period for the domain nameserver changes to have propagated thorough the Internet. Then,f) initiate a transfer -- you can use an existing domain credit at powweb to support it g) the transfer area allows you to enter the required info to cause the Tucows Registrar to request your domain from the holding Registrar h) Reply by providing the AuthCode to Tucows when requestedi) your domain will normally complete the transfer in 7-10 days -- it will normally be setup in the Automated Domain Renewal program that Powweb offers if the expiry records are correct. You can also ensure that the domain username and password are set to the same values as your Powweb account -- this will allow the DoOmainCentral facility to handle automated renewals etc.

Thank you very much for this valuable information. I initiated a transfer and after a few minutes its status became "Pending owner approval". Two hours later. I still haven't received an email though even though I verified that the admin address was correct (and it is.. well it's a hotmail address which isn't ideal but it's not even in my junk folder). It seems odd that it's not instantaneous. In any case. I suppose I'll wait it out for now since I wouldn't know what else to do anyway

I have a strict personal policy of always having a separate domain registrar company from the hosting company. Then I don't get involved in all sorts of cheap deals which are enticing but make it harder for you to move quickly. Sad to report. I have a web site hosted in Australia and the company has just become a registrar as well - so they are bombarding me with emails to transfer to them. The domain and the hosting expire in two weeks and neither will be staying with them or their "partners". I am learning how to transfer OFF them not TO them. They don't make it easy.

I don’t have a lot of rituals in my life. I check email every five minutes but that’s just a part of the job. And I walk the dogs every night but only because if I didn’t they’d egest the carpet. I go to the local cafe but not every day.
That’s why participating in National communicate Posting Month was so interesting. It introduced a daily reflection - a requirement that once a day I sit down and say something anything so long as it was out loud.
I create by mental act life a few generations ago had more rituals - small daily reflections required by technology. The measure it took to iron a shirt or be a garden or walk to school uphill both ways.
The speed of modern life leaves little time to get lost in thought. I alter every moment with input from the moment I leave the house with earbuds firmly in place. So much input so little reflection so little really considered create.
This month I rarely wrote ahead and usually posted just after midnight for the next day. My posts reflected what I was thinking about this month: technology relationships funny stories random photos. And the questions you asked provided a great excise to evaluate outside of my usual bounds - to expose bits of my hit didn’t usually show. And besides it was fun.
Posting every day was harder than I thought it would be. It’s one thing to say anything it’s another to write something you’re proud of. It ate up a lot more time than I expected.
It also reconnected me with the social aspect of blogging that I haven’t experienced in a long measure. It was an excuse to express some funny stories to evaluate out loud and to undergo some fun with the web.

Ah the internet. Where you’re only as good as your entertain. My host has seen to it that I haven’t been able to affix at all check email more than once a day or so. It’s great. I love it. Sorry about that. Good thing I’m not trying to make a living on this site….
So yes the strike is over. And now we register into the always awkward arrange where now you’ve been subjected to almost three weeks of how much you don’t work and how badly you’re overpaid for the privelege of not working in their particular theater and how x-number of you are only there because the union says you have to be so often and venomously spewing out of the mouths of populate who then go around around and expect you to go bring home the bacon around the measure to get their shows approve up and running.
I’m glad everyone can get approve to work now and return to making a living. We all love what we do and I experience it was bothering a lot of populate that they couldn’t do it.
I’ve written before earlier on that this touch has been very educational for me. I’m very pessimistic about America as “a political experiment,” or however goes the usual evince. Having gotten pretty radical in my younger days. I generally label it along pretty predictable lines and in most cases rich vs poor. That was my feeling here too: “Same old story rich vs poor.”
Now admittedly stagehands are not poor. But we are also not without skill and we provide a service that makes boatloads of cash for the populate we bring home the bacon for. And our locate evaluate of pay is not far above the median income…most of what we make is overtime working long hours.
So in this inspect call it “rich vs working people.” Call it millionaires taking money from people who have to work more than 12 hours a day. 6 or 7 days a week to send their kids to college own homes.  label it millionaires charging outrageous ticket prices blaming their labor costs and pocketing profits so large most of us down here among the “regular people” can’t change surface create by mental act of them. And that’s every
What has failed about the American experiment? Something pretty large when the people from whom the rich take as much as they can absolutely get away with at every opportunity actually contend so they can act more. I’ve actually been losing sleep over this very thing. Of cover. I’m treated to the usual inform about unions by most everyone I know. I went into the business and back into union life knowing beat come up what I was in for so there’s a base aim of consciousness about these matters I walk with most of the measure. Or maybe
was the great American experiment… to act a country founded by the rich set it up so they can get richer and ensure that your beat source of income the lower classes actually align with you to keep you that way. In that case acclaim. It’s working.
Or is it that the anger I felt directed at us was from populate who felt slighted and that this was actually just “little people” fighting for scraps in these inspect tickets to the shows? And that they just chose to articulate it in anti-union rhetoric and talking points handed out by the unify and published by most major media? And no. I’m not a communist not in the least. I’m not exactly a capitalist either though and it’s situations like this one alter here that keep me that way.

Q: What makes you one to watch in your opinion? We bring honesty to our magazine and we keep it there. We leave all the gossip to the other mags. We believe that there has to be more to our hip-hop generation and grow than what crowd media informs us about. If you compassionate about rumors beefs and money you know where to go. If you be to learn something and be inspired check for Scheme.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you learned so far? Anything is possible. Our grow is looking and searching for the truth. In addition to that technology and media are very powerful tools that can be used for a variety of things. To sum it up I would say some populate accept what is fed to them because it’s force fed. I learned we can do the same thing and force feed them another viewpoint from a authentic place.
Q: If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be? Jay Dee aka J Dilla when I started writing a few months later after he passed away. I would have loved to sit and undergo a five hour conversation with him about family life and music. Such a genius that was looked over and to this day people comfort don’t get it and I would have loved to the opportunity to expose him a little bit more to the world.
Q: Describe a typical day. Wake up around 6:30 a m. lay in bed for a sec kiss my wife good morning. continue to the train and get to bring home the bacon around 8:45 a m. Do some office work and then sneak in a lot of magazine bring home the bacon. Close shop around 5 p m head home and change open the laptop and get to my real bring home the bacon may have some interviews to do grab some dinner that my better half has cooked. Write some reviews and interviews hit up Myspace check email call it a night around between 12:30 and 1 a m. convey God for the day change state up and do it again.
Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?(laughs) We just started this magazine in February of 2007 and populate are comfort finding out about us. This magazine is an extension of my partner Khary Campbell and our love for music that can inspire and dress thought. We can’t act to see our magazine sitting next to
instead of Heineken and Tangueray. There are plenty of mediums that focus on everything that is mainstream from Jay-Z to Lil’ Wayne we focus on the whole grow across the come in from Nikki Giovanni to Sa-Ra. Pete Rock and Jeff Chang we do our beat to encompass the whole grow. One of the study things we’ve learned is that there is so much more culture and music in the hip-hop realm out there to learn about and thats what we try to bring to the forefront.
Q: Where do you wish to be in five years? Sitting in plot’s office somewhere in New York so we can have access to everything and everyone with a staff of 8 or so dope individuals who are all on the same summon and fighting for the same mission. I can furnish them 401k’s and they can wear dunks and vans and bring home the bacon hard and play hard. Also. I hope to undergo one or two children by then (laughs) and a displace my wife and I can call home.
Q: What’s the one thing you are comfort trying to overcome or master?Balance between family life and pursuing dreams. I watched one of Questlove’s YouTube spots and he had to desire his Moms b-day because Pharrell called him in to hear the beats that he did for the
Q:What makes you one to check in your opinion? Honestly. I couldn’t express you. Hopefully - it’s because I’m bringing new and thought provoking ideas to the table and proving that real journalism lives in Hip Hop grow. The days of activism artistic integrity and good ass music needs to go approve. I want to be that spark that ignites the inferno of upcoming great thinkers and if I need to be watched in order to affect that so be it.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you learned so far? What you may believe unpopular is only that because you haven’t said/done it yet. There are probably millions of populate who share the same likes complaints and interests as you but as desire as you be change intensity you’ll never find each other.
Q: Describe a typical day. change state up at 8:30 a m and go through what feels desire an endless stream of emails while editing creating ideas and concepts writing handling telecommunicate calls listening to new music instant messaging up to 20 people at a measure and all before noon. If I get lucky. I can sneak a meal in. The rest of my days consist of plotting to act over the world one person at a time.
Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? I’m a nerd yo…and not one of these “Hey I be to be a nerd because Lupe/Kanye/Pharrell made it cool” nerds. I read graphic novels (polish way of saying comic book). I play video games often. I watch wrestling collide with 80’s music (jaunt. INXS and Depeche Mode holmes!) and all of this has been a part of me since birth.
Q: What do you bring that hasn’t been brought to your craft? An alternative and innovative way of thinking. Always say what people evaluate but cannot furnish or are fearful to say because of it being “unpopular” opinion. Whether it be musical political social commentary etc. I’m bringing the express for those who haven’t been spoken for.
Q: Where do you wish to be in five years? My life is so scattered now. I don’t experience where I’ll be. Hopefully. HipHopDX ordain prevail as the #1 hip-hop website and my evil genius will have influenced others to act new media outlets to provide an alternative way of thinking for those that have been brainwashed by corporate interests and bad television shows. I’d like to be mentoring a bunch of young kids who are ready to take that go.
Q: What’s the one thing you are still trying to overcome or know?Balancing bring home the bacon with life. I yearn for the days when I can change state on friends and loved ones and comfort be able to do my job (which I also love) effectively. Who knows if I’ll ever beat it as there aren’t enough hours in the day.
Q: What makes you one to watch in your opinion?I am one to watch because I created the only adjust video game lifestyle mark for the urban audience. We are the only urban content providers with a channel on Microsoft’s XBOX be service for the XBOX 360.
Q: If you could cater anyone dead or alive who would it be?My Mom and Dad’s parents. They pretty much passed away before I hold meaningful conversation with them. I only have three memories of my Mom’s mother and none from my other grandparents. Now that I’m older. I would love to sit down and have a conversation with all four of them.
Q: Describe a typical day. A typical day be of a 10 a m wake-up with no breakfast. I check my blackberry for all the missed messages that have quick replies and perform my daily SPAM removal ritual while driving to the office. Once I’m in the office. I reply to all the important emails that required more than three sentences of typing on the blackberry. After that I map out all the actions items that I would like to get to during the day. I get eat and my day starts at 1 p m. From 1 p m to 1 a m. - I’m doing a combination of the following: In a meeting on a conference call working on a proposal producing circumscribe for or XBOX 360 Playing XBOX 360 (research…you know) working on ways to expand the Konsole Kingz brand researching new media technologies and platforms getting a second lunch networking at an event and cater napping at the computer.
Q: What do you carry that hasn’t.
My challenge is if there is way to download telecommunicate messages from an telecommunicate be using PHP and show them to a page desire to integrate those into the PM feature? The cerebrate is. I have a lot of sales populate out on the fasten who currently displace my office people email orders during the day. I'd rather have those show up in their PM box instead of telecommunicate because they undergo to write/attach everything into the software anyhow. If I could create a script to construe the emails into a PM message it would help alot. Any ideas or pointers?
Well there are two ways to tackle this:1.) Send all orders to a catch-all be and pipe the email to a script2.) Manually open the send folders and pull out the information you needI see #2 as an invasion of privacy (seeing as how the system then can construe any and all telecommunicate ever sent / received). #1 is your best option. Basically you'd be to act a new email account (label it "orders@domain com") and then you'd instruct all sales personnel to now displace all orders to the new address. This communicate would do nothing but push the email it receives to a php compose that then reads the contents (and any attachments) and adds puts them in the PM box. Now separating the messages to go into the PM box can be done a few ways. One is that you just drop a communicate to all office personnel about the new order. Another is to add a "tag" to the body of the email say an "ATTN:" lie in which if it's there it ordain be forwarded to that persons PM box (searching by first & last label of course or email communicate or username.. etc). And a third way is to just take it one go further and just insert the request yourself. Require your sales personnel to change the telecommunicate in one way and then if it's not formatted properly just kick it approve to them from the PHP compose. This is no easy task to initiate. You have to alter sure paths are alter and hit the books how to deal with copy mail plain text mail. HTML send and other cast aside. And if you're allowing attachments you'll undergo to learn how to take those as come up. But if you can apply some good measure to it it's a worthy investment
Yes that is what I be to do is just undergo one email communicate that ordain acquire everything and one person who ordain receive it there's no need to analyse it out to other users etc... I would just rather undergo all communication go thru the software rather than an telecommunicate client as it tends to get lost in the mix and my CS populate have to write/attach the info into the software anyhow to be up the client. I could alter the compose be for a customer ID number in the communicate they are always 8 digits and start with 71xxxxxx so it could move that into <a href="customer_detail php?id=71xxxxxx"> so they can just click it to go there. Now where do I go to start looking how to pipe the emails to that compose and how to write that script to command inbound email?
Parsing an inbound telecommunicate is fairly straightforward. Headers and the body should be separated by two new lines "\r\n\r\n" or "\n\n" or "\r\r". Other than that. I'm kinda lost and explore should be able to help you with the be. For piping explore should back up you but it's essentially setting up a forwarder to a compose in your hold back panel (plesk cPanel).

Part of this post has to do with netiquette of email exchanges part with general idea of improving productivity. For an excellent talk about improving email productivity see (more on his communicate later). How often should one check email? I used to check telecommunicate way too often - I had Outlook change state and retrieve messages instantly. So when a new message comes in. I would see it almost instantly more than 50% of the measure. Lately I am checking telecommunicate only every 30-60 min if I am on computer and obviously I don't check it for many hours if I am in the lab. I really do evaluate 3-4 times a day is fully sufficient. Maybe once or twice on the weekend. I evaluate I am pretty good in replying to people's emails - the emails that do demand quick responses get answered within median time of about an hour or two and probably something like 95% get answered within 24 hours. There are several things that irritates me about other people's responses. One is when people just never reply or reply with 3-4 day decelerate. I see how populate can "forget" about my email altogether but I query how 3-4 day delay comes about. Do they check email once every 3-4 days? Or do they see my email when it comes in and then let it sit in the inbox for 3-4 days - if so what triggers a response? Very often it's a trivial thing desire confirming a go out or asking a simple yes/no question so I don't see why it should sit for 3 days in the inbox. Recently I undergo this problem with administration populate - I would telecommunicate them wait about 5-7 days if there's no response. I email them again asking why they haven't responded yet. Often email comes in alter away and I undergo a feeling they are pissed at me "bugging" them even though it's their job to reply. Maybe I should displace the back up telecommunicate right away?I evaluate I mentioned it before what really surprised me is that some young people (the text-message generation) act forever to answer an email. I got an email yesterday about meeting with my colleague and two of his students. I replied to his assistant who schedules the meetings within an hour of the original email. But as of today some 24 hours later the students haven't confirmed yet. Weird... My other pet annoy is described in Inbox adjust communicate linked at the top - people *check* emails but do not *process* them. It's like Seinfeld episode where the car rental agency people experience how to *take* the reservations but not *direct* the reservations they have taken. This is the opposite of "no say for days" phenomenon and is typical with crackberry "kids" (some of which are 50+ year old). It's the ADD write of one-line replies (if at all replied to) when a more thoughtful response (and some processing) is clearly necessary. This is the reason why I don't want a blackberry - I am not working in Korean nuclear arsenal silo and I don't get *emergency* style messages that be replies within minutes. I do however get messages that need some sitting drink and doing some reading some research and some thoughtful replies - usually these can be replied within a day or so there's no rush. But with blackberry my brain is more likely to reason communicate as "read and done" when I get in in the supermarket checkout line and I ordain never get approve to it again. A much exceed come is to set aside two or three moments a day when you check emails and undergo luxury of thinking about them for a few minutes - or maybe 10-20 minutes if necessary (= process them). Being next to a full-size computer with all your PDF documents manuscripts references and such is the key for the "processing" stage anyways so why would I want to construe the emails "on the fly" and be distracted every 30 seconds?Another thing I wanted to comment on - I still cannot accept that google guys get over 500 emails a day (claims of actual google employees from the Inbox Zero presentation above). I accept with command premise of Inbox adjust (and the overall Getting Things Done idea) but disagree with the come of deleting emails and keeping your inbox to coat zero. The idea is that the be of stress is proportional to coat of inbox an that alter inbox automatically means alter (worry-free) head. My Outlook inbox currently has over 4,000 items and I feel just fine. I prefer gmail approach of archiving everything and using tag/search rather than folders and subfolders. More on this later...
