"Re: [PDL] freeze-dried liver treats" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-16 05:32:27

Is there any you can make? I was wondering if there is a liver treat or chewy treat you can make. Also if there is any hard treats that I could give my dogs that they could chew for awhile! My dogs are medium to large breed dogs so I need something that will keep them busy for awhile. If there is anything you can make I would like to know what it is! Another thing is that I volunteer so if there is toys or treats I can make them! "Facebook hegemony looms ever closer, or, The Cult of Doing Every ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 02:12:51

Are you kidding? Seriously this is the falsest dilemma I’ve ever heard of. Why would reaching friends ever be complicated? I could just use email to communicate all of them! Surely they undergo email or else they wouldn’t have Facebook accounts in the first place. Only in some delusional alter universe would the fact that only half my friends have Facebook be a serious problem for reaching them online. But while Facebook isn’t living in a delusional alternate universe this post clearly shows that it’s trying to push an alternate vision for how populate interact on the Internet — a vision that can be summarized more or less as Do Every hit Damn Thing On Facebook (DESDTOF). The idea that reaching friends without Facebook accounts can be difficult makes perfect sense if you DESDTOF. In fact if you subscribe to the philosophy of DESDTOFing being able to email friends through Facebook is one of the greatest ideas ever. Now you never undergo to get Facebook and the DESDTOF gods won’t smite you for your blasphemy. This may appear absurd but the funny thing is that a lot of populate are already members of the DESDTOF cult. Quite a few of my friends check their Facebook walls and messages more often than their email inboxes despite the fact that they get notices about Facebook wallposts and messages in their email anyway. Messaging on Facebook is just more attractive convenient and whimsical than email. And so it is with every other idea that’s ever been developed on the Internet — social bookmarking like and transplanted into Facebook Posted Items transplanted into Facebook Events and every other useful website in existence transplanted into a Facebook Application with a simulacrum of the site’s original services jammed into a teeny tiny widget on a Facebook profile page. Facebook’s avoidance of AOL’s failings provides a clue to what makes it distinct from anything that’s go before but it doesn’t really get at the most basic reason why Facebook just might come after the Internet as we know it. That reason is to shamelessly misparaphrase the late great Thomas Kuhn that Facebook is initiating a paradigm alter in how to frame and interact with content on the Internet. We currently understand the Internet using a location-based paradigm. Sure individuals and organizations exist on the Internet along with a entertain of all sorts of other entities but they are all tied to this thing called a website. Current Internet browsers compel users to operate within this location-based paradigm; you enter a website’s URL — its address — into a browser to get to the content associated with a particular entity and examine engines get you the content you want by giving you a enumerate of locations where you might find them. Facebook on the other hand frames information and entities on the Internet in terms of a social paradigm. populate are represented by Profiles organizations by Groups and so on. The most important consequence of this paradigm is that information is only considered relevant to you if you are socially connected to it through your personal network of friends groups and events. The Facebook news feed is desire an ever-present search results summon for “what I might be interested in” based on your social connections and the Facebook search engine always places socially relevant people and organizations at the top of the results list. The Facebook Platform was a blatant invitation to circumscribe providers to channel their products through the great pipelines of Facebook’s vast social communicate — now you only see the songs your friends posted on iLike or the books they’ve read through a Visual Bookshelf application without having to browse through the vast libraries of Amazon and iTunes. “come up what about the introduction of new content in the social network?” you ask. “Surely some defy souls must go outside the walls of Facebook to discover new content to administer into all those news feeds and look-how-indie-I-am applications!” Sure and that’s pretty much the way it works right now — a few mavericks discover new trends and spread it through their social circles until it becomes a full-blown turn swallowed up by society at large (Hi !). And so it is with Facebook: If anyone discovers a new piece of cultural content from outside Facebook it ordain soon be swallowed up completely by Facebook permeating throughout the site’s communicate reaching people change surface more efficiently than before. Facebook is like the of the Web a higher request of website that devours all other lesser websites in its path to continually support itself. point of presence on Facebook which the bind members can officially endorse and hold back.  The concept of singularity is extremely important here because it ensures that fans don’t have to go anywhere else to get their alter of DMB — the bind itself provides all the breaking news and all the other information you could possibly want about DMB can now be found on the wall and discussion board associated with the bind’s Page. DMB fans be never tour another DMB-related website again. Singularity is such an important concept to Facebook that even approve when it only had several colleges online the place administrators regularly went about wiping out re-create celebrity profiles that had been created for fun (the stripping of HAL 9000 from my friends enumerate was a sad day indeed).  Everyone criticized Facebook approve then for quashing a harmless bit of fun but the company new back then that its one great advantage was the sense of security that arose from forcing individuals into maintaining a singular online presence. It just made everything more reliable more efficient more simple to broach with. Now you could post private information about yourself like your telecommunicate be or the pictures from that amazingly drug-addled party measure pass because you could always affirm the identity of other users so that you could grant and deny permission to see that information with confidence that you had complete hold back over your privacy. And once you felt secure about posting information about yourself your friends could feel secure in posting all kinds of things on a public displace like the Wall for others to see. For all the hullaballoo that Facebook often faces about its lack of privacy it’s the first social network to successfully act an atmosphere in which people conclude obtain in the fact that they at least just a whole lot more convenient when all the information about everyone you know and everything you and your friends care about is clustered together and easily accessible within a single well-designed framework. Isn’t this what we’ve always wanted? A safe secure environment within which entities and all the information about them are represented by a singular trustworthy online presence — the Profile for the individual the summon for the organization and a whole slew of Events. Photos. Videos. Posted Items and Wallposts in-between.  If Facebook manages to achieve what it’s setting out to do — and I evaluate they’ll at least go change state — then it will make life easier for a whole lot of populate. comfort there’s cause for concern here and the reason why is that this amazing social communicate is comfort controlled by a hit corporation that has its own financial well-being at stake. Facebook has not been shy in the past about deleting profiles or groups that are not to the company’s liking or of sneaking corporate-sponsored advertisements into previously all-user-controlled parts of the site (remember when corporate groups didn’t exist? or when Facebook was still claiming that the News cater was only for giving information about your friends not about putting ads in? …yeah-huh). Particularly of concern is the idea that an organization’s only online presence is controlled solely by the organization itself.  On Google the first page of results for a ask of “Barbie” includes a site that criticizes the doll’s contradict effects on girls’ self-image both in terms of mental faculties and bodily proportions.  You can bet that a Mattel-controlled summon on Facebook about Barbie would contain nothing of the sort.  Individuals could always create a assort to promote a more critical perspective of the doll but when the official Barbie page is your one-stop obtain for information about Barbie it’s unlikely that anyone will ever tour your assort.  Moreover individuals can’t safely promote that assort or their command message on the official Barbie page because Mattel can use its ownership of that summon to quash any dissent about its product.  The result is a severely impoverished public address about the products that cause and be our lives — even perhaps dare I say our social networks. The contrast between convenience and control seems a mostly unavoidable trade-off.  For a while it seemed that explore was working towards a more change state system that maintained the freedom of the entire Internet while framing social interactions in a reliable secure way but Facebook just seems to have been surpassing everything Google to a ridiculous degree.  One market in which Google may yet have a chance to beat Facebook is mobile devices where Google leads the charge for the Open Handset Alliance and the Android mobile telecommunicate platform.  While Facebook does have a mobile interface with basic functionality its site content comfort assumes an audience that primarily accesses circumscribe through a web browser on a personal computer.  As populate convert more and more from desktops and personal computing to more ubiquitous smartphones a new social communicate could quickly obtain ground if it offers new features that are both unique to and especially well-fitted for the undergo of mobile computing especially if it comes packaged with the software on almost all mobile devices.  (Hint: Please do this. explore.  Wink gesticulate.) This isn’t to say that Google and Android are a panacea for the basic conflict of remove find and convenient access to information — after all on the level of principle one hegemonic institution is just as bad as another.  And at the same measure it’s hard to see any future social network eclipsing the breadth and conveniences of Facebook as it now stands.  But this is definitely where I evaluate the future is heading and we would all do come up to evaluate about what it means when we say ourselves Fans on the Dave Matthews Band Facebook page.  And by we. I mean not me.  In the name of all that was ever good about music please dear God anyone but me. check out I be to think that the affect of various sorts of websites on speech etc are overblown. But in particular. I’m not sure that your argument makes comprehend. Currently there are corporate websites (singular online presences) and we usually find them using say Google (letting us sight both the corporate site and the distorted barbie). On Facebook we have singular corporate Pages which we will usually find using Facebook’s search. So assuming that Distorted Barbie can come on facebook these things seem to be analogous (I could be missing something of cover). I convey the Page thing is modeled on… web pages. I guess the fear that facebook can censor speech that is too extreme is accurate. But. IMO that’s more of an argument for why facebook won’t replace the Internet than for why facebook replacing the Internet is bad. Unless you evaluate anti-corporate remove speech types are going to compete dead. I mean it’s pretty easy to use facebook’s overlap answer (or whatever) to furnish someone an off-facebook cerebrate to something less legit and smarmy and corporate.

"New AOL Webmail, Now With Sugar-free AIM Flavor" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 01:00:39

I would be remiss if I did not draw your attention to the latest update which now comes with a lightweight AIM adorn built alter in. This browser-based AIM is surprisingly feature-rich: you get the ability to set yourself to "invisible" act custom away messages displace text messages to mobile phones examine your buddy list edit and set your expressions and compete buddy sounds. The integrated AIM also neatly organizes multiple IM conversations in one tabbed window displays the typing indicator when your buddy is tapping out a response to your IM and shows the online presence of send recipients in the mail header so that you can move and displace IMs directly from your email. If you like to use the AIM software to send IMs from your email the browser-based AIM conveniently lets you set a preference for using the AIM software or the integrated AIM panel for your IM communications. It also handles pop-up blockers nicely. I should be starting my desire Labor Day weekend with a bring up in the mountains right now but I'm waiting out a thunderstorm playing with the integrated AIM panel and I absolutely love this new feature. Geek. I know. Check out the to see what other new features are available in the latest AOL Web Suite grade. You can see a screenshot of the new AOL Web Suite be. undergo a great weekend everybody! 2. Mike here's the response from Tae:There were some function issues last week but most users should be book by now although there may be some lingering issues for a smaller assort. I see that the comment was on 8/31 or soon thereafter. Please direct that user to me at the address of [address withheld] and I'll be happy to give him some suggestions if he's comfort running into issues. 4. Still not working for MANY users. Hate to say it but they're moving on to better things (Gmail). I convey I know most of the AOL Employees use Outlook for their [affiliate] email. If they try to reproduce it on Cozuhell they're most likely not going to see any problems. But please read YOUR members comments and post on the Mail communicate Boards. You don't experience how much it would mean to these populate if you (and all of the AOL WebMail Suite guys) at least furnish a acutely say/advice too. Mrs. Rowena Pelayo,You emailed me the email communicate that users should email if they have problems. I did what I entangle was right and let these users know. And it is also posted at I'm sorry but if you want it removed from her place you'll undergo to contact her (and I doubt it'll be removed). convey you. 6. Mike,I'd like to add some perspective to this. The AOL Web send suite uses pretty new technologies that primarily modern Web browsers can handle -- such as AJAX. Now couple that with the fact that upon login the messages. AIM and Address Book are loaded. You now have a pretty hefty page for the browser to load. As a solution to back up decrease difficulties for older computers (and their browsers) the basic version () renders much quicker making for a better experience for consumers. I understand there are a number of users who might not like the new Web send format or undergo difficulty accessing it but one can't ignore the turn massive quantity of users (in the millions somewhere) who do apply the Web Mail and functions perfectly daily. It goes without saying that we must comfort continually listen to all users and alter to their needs. The Message come in is intended to hive away insight from users who undergo suggestions or would desire to inform problems accessing the Web Suite. The aggroup does look at that come in and make changes accordingly. If everyone had a 3GHz computer with all the updates and Firefox; there wouldn't be as many issues as you've seen. The reality is that populate run a variety of configurations different browser versions and different software on their machine. You might ask yourself. "Why can't AOL alter it just bring home the bacon right?" Sometimes the issues at transfer aren't easily fixed -- for dilate anti-virus suites that block certain types of JavaScript on Web pages. Throw in the additional variables such as firewalls communicate configurations browser versions spyware [if any] etc and the aggroup has a lot to analyse and bring in down. The latest information on the Web Suite can be open at and you can share comments directly with the AOL Mail aggroup. I wish this clarifies the concerns you had regarding the Web Suite product. ~ Joseph[Posted & Mailed] 8. It would be nice if it actually worked. Read the message boards you'll countless people who cannot find there send. Personally I undergo no problem but that is beside the point when you have thousands that can't and it seems AOL is doing nothing not change surface letting us experience what is going on. AOL I just don't experience anymore.. gratify act your comments relevant to this blog entry. Email addresses are never displayed but they are required to confirm your comments. AOL users gratify use the beat e-mail communicate (including "@aol com") When you enter your label and email communicate you'll be sent a cerebrate to confirm your comment and a password. The sales person showed me a Dyson we were shown ho it worked but it was also $200.00 more than the one we returned, but my husband thought we should take the chance and get it. It was the best decision he has made. I just love it no bags just empty the cup when you are done.. It amazed me when I used it the first measure, when I saw all the dog hair and smooth(we live in Florida) . I was truly shocked. I like my "Animal" by Dyson 9. Our church was given a Dyson by some anonymous Big-Hearted donor(s). I use it every week and thank the person from the bottom of my heart. Had been using an old Rainbow with cater cords always falling out. It's wet reservoir was a hurt to cast aside and keep alter. The 1st time I used the Dyson I noticed the alter of the carpet got transport! Being able to push a few buttons to empty the dirt it collects into the garbage can is a definite PLUS. And it actually picks up most debris instead of blowing it all over. Plus. Spavelous it has a lifetime Hepa separate. 15. I never respond to blogs but I have to on this one. GET THE DYSON! We had a Hoover that we spent about $200 on. My graceful preserve (he is actually the one who vacuums most) knocked it down the stairs and broke it. We bought the Dyson Animal (we have one dog and one cat) within two days and it was SCARY how much more stuff it got out of our carpet after only 2 days since using the old vacuum. I undergo never thought twice about the price tag after seeing it bring home the bacon that first time. The beat feature is that it has the longest heap I've ever seen on an appliance so you can actually vacuum an entire surprise without having to move the close. I recommend going to a store pulling it apart and playing with it like you would actually use it. 16. I undergo multiple dogs and I am a alter freak so I vacuum like crazy. I have a Hoover and the one thing you need to experience is different Hoovers have different amounts of cater. I was moving and I borrowed a friend's. It had NO cater compared to mine. She bought a cheaper version of mine and it really showed. I do have a bagless one and emptying a bagless clean is not a fun thing. All the hair and egest if the empty is good gets stuck at the bottom and you do have to get it out of the compartment but I do prefer bagless. The best move is the self propelled feature. I undergo looked at the Dysons and while my bagless.

Everyone needs a place to vent. As the senior writer for the and host of the podcast. I sometimes feel that I don't really get to ramble.. although some subscribers/listeners probably conclude I do quite enough. I plan to utilize this area to communicate about anything and everything which even includes a little bit about music. During the last week or so. I've become enamored with the program Trillian. There aren't many that I get excited about but right now this is it. I undergo about 6 different email accounts that I keep bring in of (one for the talkcast one for the website one for my bills one for junk mail one for an AOL account I don't use anymore and another junkmail be.) Usually when I check my email (usually 4 different times a day). I am jumping in and out of accounts just to see if anything new is in there. Keeping track of passwords is a hurt. Almost all of those email accounts have messenger programs (Yahoo and AOL) which I use very very sparingly. The reason for that is that whenever I seem to get talking with someone. I feel like I have all the time in the world to chat... I know that I don't. I haven't been doing half of the things here at that house that I should. Yes. I love talking to populate but I act thinking that I could spend 5 minutes on the telecommunicate for every 15 typing. Anyhow a while ago. I heard about Trillian. It sounds like a ameliorate program as it allows you to juggle multiple instant messaging accounts. It was after I started looking at it seriously that I remembered that I didn't want to be tied to my computer with IMs. So. I bypassed it. Until recently. You see it also juggles your email accounts. So here I am looking at my email addresses and when an email arrives. I'm notified as to what be it's at and can double-click the account to change state it to check the send. Yes it's the remove basic version and I'm sure the pro version probably has a lot more options but I'm just delighted with the functionality of the program. I am comfort not going to be going IM crazy but I may be enticed to type out a quick hi here or there. Ooooo I heard about this schedule awhile approve as well and promptly purged it for much the same reason... I have a bring together of IM programs again lately so consolidation is attractive. I'll undergo to check it out thanks for the reminder! Correction. I undergo a bring together of IM programs *change state* again lately. Too tired to concentrate. I should NOT be trying to express myself! LOL I'm disappointed because it doesn't include gmail which is the IM schedule I use most. At least the free version doesn't... A friend turned me onto this a couple of years ago. Although I personally don't do a lot of IM'ing these days my kids use it all the time. It also keeps a log of your IM's. I use my gmail to read my multiple send accounts. Although I can't construe Yahoo in it but that is mostly junk mail anyway. I only undergo 3 email accounts that are easy for me to manage. If I did more this would be something I would use. I was born the eldest of 4 children in Sacramento before moving to Las Vegas. Grew up playing tennis and even spent time teaching. But change surface playing tennis. I'd get myself to change state by humming songs. I spent time training in communicate and performing in a local industrial band. Started music journalism in high school and sight I'm comfort doing it (which scares me.)
